LWC Women fall 61-43 to No. 1 Freed-Hardeman in NAIA By Christopher Coombs Billings, MT - The Blue Raiders' season comes to an end after suffering a 61-43 loss to Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) in the second round of the NAIA Division I Women's Basketball Championship at Rimrock Auto Arena at MetraPark. The Blue Raiders finish the season with a 23-11 record. J'Nayah Hall scored a game-high 14 points for the Blue Raiders as she added three steals and five rebounds. Heidi Huffman - one of four Lindsey Wilson seniors -- capped her career with doing what she does best, knocking down four three-pointers to score 12 points. Molly Stone grabbed a team-high six rebounds. The Lions (33-2) scored 61 points while shooting 44.1 percent (26-of-59) from the field. The Blue Raiders struggled offensively, shooting just 32.7 percent (17-of-52) from the field. Lindsey Wilson aided in the Lions' offensive effort in the game. Freed-Hardeman scored 24 points off 14 Blue Raider turnovers and tallied eight second-chance points off its eight offensive rebounds. Freed-Hardeman also dominated the paint, scoring 34 of their points from the high percentage area as LWC only managed 16 points. The Lions also held a 40-32 rebounding advantage. All season the Blue Raiders have averaged 16.5 points per game from the charity stripe on 23.3 attempts, leading to consistent offensive production. Today Lindsey Wilson only reached the foul line a season-low seven times as they made four of the attempts. Freed-Hardeman opened the contest on an 11-2 run and never looked back as they were able to build their lead to 15-6 at the end of the first quarter. Lindsey Wilson would manage to cut the deficit to as few as seven points three times over the second and third quarters but failed to extend their runs beyond that point. The Lions would take an 18 point lead at the end of the third leading them to capture their largest lead of the game in the fourth at 21 points with 3:30 to play before taking the game 61-43. While a pair of Blue Raiders posted double figures, four Lions reached double digits. Haylee Croom scored a game-high 14 points while Carrie Hatchel added 12.
