Adair County Fiscal Court March meeting report By Tiffany Kessler Besides a few issues which took longer for Adair Fiscal Court members to decipher through, the full March meeting went smoothly. Sheriff's Report Adair Sheriff Josh Brockman was first to give his department's report. During February, his office collected $420,009 in tax revenue. According to Brockman, the standard tax bills are 97% collected. Activity for the month of February include: 79 warrants of arrests served; 39 out of county transports; 16 collision investigated and 16 cases opened; 709 complaints with 30 of those being drug and alcohol related. The magistrates voted unanimously to accept the sheriff's report. GRAS REPORT Tammy Campbell, Director of the Green River Animal Shelter (GRAS), presented her monthly report to the fiscal court. February activity at the shelter included: Dog Warden Jimmy Harmon brought in 35 dogs and 3 cats; Green County brought in 8 dogs; there were 26 adoptions while 18 went to rescues; $840 came in through adoptions; animals surrendered brought in $10; donations to the shelter reached $691; Green County contributed $352; Total brought in to the shelter was $1,893. Jail Report Jailer Joey White gave his report which showed the Adair Co. Regional Jail collected $78,367 for the month of February. Total charges for the jail during the month were $134,314; subtracting $62,680 for Adair inmates; leaving the total billing amount at $71,634. Jailer White stated that Class D inmates completed 2,392 hours of work within the community and if averaged at $8 per hour would total $19,136 of labor during the month of February. White was also able to give a check for $29,000 from the jail's canteen fund to go toward inmate medical expenses. Adair Co. Treasurers Report County Treasurer Melinda Quinn came with plenty of numbers for her report Tuesday night. According to Quinn, the Adair County Fiscal Court has a general fund cash balance of $589,783. The following are balances for each department: - Adair Road Department - $1.1 million - Adair Co. Jail - $54,760 - LGEA - $128,342 - Forest Fire - $1,955 - Parks & Recreation - $25,535 - ABC Funds - $44,082 - 911 Center - $20,744 - Green River Animal Shelter - $664 The total of all funds being $10,042,151 Other Items on the Agenda The Breeding and Knifley Area Volunteer Fire Departments both submitted yearly financial reports to the fiscal court and were both given the annual $2,500 to assist with their insurance costs. 911 Director Jason Upchurch requested Allison Owens be hired part time as a dispatcher, hourly wage is $9.60. The court voted in favor of the new employee. Sheriff Josh Brockman asked the court if his department could obtain a credit card with only a $500 limit. Brockman said this would be used by deputies transferring inmates which can often times be costly and cause the employee to be out the sum until they are reimbursed. He assured the court his department would be responsible for the monthly bill. It was approved without objection. Adair County Judge Executive Cowan asked the court if they were in favor of holding Spring Free Tipping. She mentioned its popularity with the community - the court voted all in favor.
