Lawmakers proposing $105M tax break to banks and others By Tom Loftus, Louisville Courier Journal Legislative leaders on Wednesday approved a tax break sought by Kentucky-based banks, adding it to the session's major tax bill that is now estimated to cost the state about $105 million in annual revenue. And the move comes at the same time lawmakers are poised to also give relief to local health departments, regional universities and others from a spike in the pension costs they face starting July 1 -- a move that will shift hundreds of millions of dollars in annual pension costs to state taxpayers.
