Lane closures expected on I65 tonight in Bowling Green

Crews are expected to update I-165 signage at exit 20

By Wes Watt

Bowling Green, KY - Lane closures on Interstate 65 near the exit 20 interchange at I-165 (formerly William H. Natcher Parkway) in Bowling Green are expected to be begin tonight at 8pmCT. The lane closures are necessary so contract crews can update the signs for the new I-165 designation.

The lane closures are expected to begin in the southbound direction. Once those signs are replaced lane closures may take place in the southbound direction as well. Motorists should slow down in this area and use caution as workers will be present.

The project to sign the entire length of the William H. Natcher Parkway to I-165 begin last week and is expected to continue for the next couple of weeks.

Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) Secretary Greg Thomas announced in September of 2018 an agreement with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) to officially designate the Natcher Parkway as I-165. Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin and U.S. Rep Brett Guthrie announced the initiative to designate the Natcher Parkway as an interstate spur at an event in Owensboro in August of 2016.
