March proclaimed Womens History Month in Columbia

By Tiffany Collins

In recognition of Womens History Month, which was celebrated on Friday, March 8, 2019, the day was also recognized as Women of Columbia Day. This was as the result of a proclamation issued by Columbia Mayor Pamela Hoots.

The month of March is Womens History Month. The city wants to recognize women in our community for their work in their churches, community, and in the workplace.

The proclamation recognizes those in leadership positions on various boards and organizations and the service of women through the years.

Attending were: Courtney Karnes, who works at Community Trust Bank; Rachel Burton Rowe, who is with Williams Furniture; and Pam Grant, a local businesswoman.
