Dr. Elijah Brown to present at Baptist Heritage Lecture Series

Campbellsville, KY -. - Dr. Elijah Brown, general secretary of Baptist World Alliance (BWA), will present the annual Baptist Heritage Lecture Series on Tuesday, March 26, 2019, at 6pmET in the Banquet Hall of the Badgett Academic Learning Center, 110 University Drive, Campbellsville, KY.

Brown will be speaking at a chapel service on Wednesday, March 27 at 10amET in Ransdell Chapel, 401 N. Hoskins Ave., Campbellsville, KY.

Both events are free and the public is invited to attend.


In 2007, Brown was named one of 35 global emerging leaders by the BWA. He is past BWA regional secretary for North America and general secretary for the North American Baptist Fellowship.

Brown is originally from the state of Texas in the United States, assumed the position of general secretary of the BWA in January 2018.

Brown was the executive vice president of the 21st Century Wilberforce Initiative, a Christian human rights organization based in Virginia, and was previously associate professor of Religion at East Texas Baptist University where he was founding director of the Freedom Center.

Brown earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Texas with a double major in religion and history, and a Ph.D. in Divinity with a focus on World Christianity from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland.

Brown is married to Amy and is the father of Hudson, Sahara and Keziah.

The Baptist Heritage Lecture Series promotes the study, discussion and research of Baptist historical events, traditions and leaders who are unique and essential to understanding who Baptists are.
