LWC Women's Basketball to face Bethel in NAIA Tournament

By Chris Wells

Lindsey Wilson women's basketball is the No. 5 seed in the Naismith Bracket of the 2019 NAIA Division I Women's Basketball National Tournament bracket, NAIA officials announced today.

The Blue Raiders (22-10) meet fourth-seeded Bethel (TN) in the first game of the national tournament. Tip-off is set for 9:30amCT on Wednesday, March 13, at Rimrock Auto Arena at MetraPark, 308 6th Ave N, Billings, MT.

No. 17-ranked Lindsey Wilson received one of the 18 at-large bids into the 32-team national tournament. No. 15-ranked Bethel (28-5) earned an automatic bid into the national tournament after winning the Southern States Conference's regular-season title.

The field consists of 13 automatic berths, 18 at-large selections and championship host Rocky Mountain (Mont.). Automatic qualification is given to conference regular-season champions, regular-season runners-up, tournament champions or tournament runners-up depending on the league. At-large teams were determined using the final regular-season Coaches' Top 25 poll released today.

Lindsey Wilson is making its 14th appearance in the national tournament and its fifth straight. The Blue Raiders own an 8-13 all-time record in the national tournament. Bethel earns its 10th national-tournament appearance this season and boasts a 7-9 all-time national-tournament record.

The Blue Raiders and Wildcats played earlier this season in McKenzie, Tennessee. The Wildcats won that meeting 53-51. Bethel leads the all-time series against Lindsey Wilson 8-5.

The NAIA Network - the association's official video streaming home - will broadcast the first 30 games leading up to the championship final on ESPN3. The video platform, powered by Stretch Internet, allows users access to live video, statistics, and social interaction on a number of devices, including mobile. Single-day passes can be purchased for $9.95, while an all-tournament package is available at $34.95.

The winner of the Lindsey Wilson-Bethel game advances to face the winner of No. 1-seed Freed-Hardeman (TN) and eighth-seeded Dillard (LA) on Friday, March 15 at 10amCT.
