Blue Raiders bested Patriots with solid 2nd half

By Clayton Barefield

Williamsburg, KY - The No. 19-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team bested Cumberlands (KY) 67-51 at the O. Wayne Rollins Center in what was the Blue Raider's final regular season Mid-South Conference road contest.

Reagan Turner led the offensive efforts for Lindsey Wilson (21-8, 9-4 MSC), garnering 23 points and five assists for the contest. Turner was one of the three Blue Raiders that finished in double-figures.

Heidi Huffman and J'Nayah Hall were the other Blue Raiders with double-digits in the victory. Hall grabbed her third double-double this season, scoring 14 points and snagging 10 rebounds. Huffman tallied 18 points, which all came from beyond the arc.

Gerda Paulauskaite also claimed 10 rebounds tying Hall for the team lead during tonight's game.

Lindsey Wilson finished the night shooting for 37.7 percent from the field and 31.6 percent from behind the arc. LWC connected on 10 of 30 shot attempts in the first half but improved to 13 made baskets on 31 attempts in the second half.

Cumberlands (14-15, 1-12 MSC) outshot the Blue Raiders in the first half with a 40.7 field goal percentage but were minimized to a 27.3 field goal percentage in the second half. The Patriots finished the night with a 34.7 shooting percentage from the field and 25 percent from three-point range.

Lindsey Wilson struggled to pull away from the Patriots in the first half, allowing Cumberlands to remain within two points at the end of the first 20 minutes of action. LWC came out strong in the third quarter, outscoring the Patriots 23-6 for the quarter.

The Blue Raiders began to loosen the hold on the Patriots, as they were able to outscore LWC 15-to-12 in the fourth. However, the late surge was not enough to spark the Patriots to a comeback.

The Blue Raider defense stood strong limiting the Patriots to only one double-digit scorer for the night in Jasmine Rhodes who finished with 18.
