Porter Lee Hamlett, 70, Columbia, KY (1948-2019)

He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the U. S. Army, and was a member of the V.F.W. Post 6097. He was former employee of Houchens and enjoyed farming after retiring from IMO Pump.

Porter Lee Hamlett of Columbia, Kentucky, died on Monday at T. J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow, KY. He was 70 years old.

Funeral services will be 1pmCT Thursday, February 21, 2019, at the Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg St., Columbia, KY, with Bro. Stanley Watson officiating. Burial will follow in the Columbia Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 5pmCT on Wednesday, February 20, 2019, at the funeral home.


Born August 5, 1948, in Adair County he was the son of the late John and Eliza Murrell Hamlett. Mr. Hamlett formerly attended the Kellyville Community Church.

He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the U. S. Army, and was a member of the V.F.W. Post 6097. He was former employee of Houchens and enjoyed farming after retiring from IMO Pump.

Survivors include his wife Nancy Reliford Hamlett, a daughter Kim Hamlett, a brother Kelly Hamlett and a sister Luzeane Hamlett all of Columbia, KY. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother James Hamlett and two sisters Polly England and Edra Reliford.

Pallbearers will be Richard Hamlett, Chris Reliford, Barry Hamlett, Herbert Pike, Travis Kimbler and Chad Wheat.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Sullivan and Jason Reliford.
