Letter: Grateful for new businesses investing in New Columbia

Victoria Pike writes:
The new store next to Black Stallion steakhouse is a Dollar Tree which is not the same as a Dollar Store. Also, the Marathon is not the same as BP Fivestar. At least we will have competition in the gas market here on the fastest growing ramp from the Cumberland Parkway.

I don't understand why all the negativity about development in this area. When we had nothing out here, people complained we had nothing. Now that we do, people still continue to make negative comments. For those who are still dissatisfied, I suggest you get involved and try to make a difference in your community instead of trying to tear down the good that is taking place here.

Never in my lifetime has there been so much development in our community in such a short time. I thank those who have invested their money here to make this a better place to live. The medical facilities alone are a tremendous asset. With quicker access to urgent care services that I know have saved lives--among them a friend and neighbor. So, I guess, I'm a little sensitive to negative comments. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and their right to express it. --Victoria
