Breeding VFD receives donation from T.J. Health Columbia The Breeding Area Volunteer Fire Department recently received the donation of new American Heart Association-compliant CPR Manikins from T.J. Health Columbia. The Manikins, valued at more than $1000, will be used to teach CPR to firefighters and other first responders. The Breeding Area Volunteer Fire Department currently has one American Heart Association Instructor on staff to teach these classes. The American Heart Association is requiring instructors to have access to AHA compliant/approved Manikins that have CPR feedback devices (rate monitors). In the past, the Breeding Area Volunteer Fire Department has had to borrow CPR Manikins from other agencies to host classes. "We are extremely grateful of the donation from T.J. Health," says Chief Terry Harvey, continuing, "T.J. donating these manikins to our department strengthens our relationship with them. CPR is a requirement for new firefighters achieving their 150 hour Certification, and it is also a department requirement for us and each firefighter must certify every 2 years. Regardless of firefighters needing to certify every 2 years, from time to time we will have CPR drills as a refresher. Our department responds to medical calls, we want to provide the best patient care possible, this is one way to strengthen our relationship with T.J. Health Columbia." The Breeding Area Volunteer Fire Department would like to thank T.J. Health Columbia for the donation of the Manikins. This story was posted on 2019-01-29 09:16:38
