Lindsey Wilson Men's Basketball knocks off Life 72-60

By Chris Wells

Marietta, GA - JR Adams led a balanced attack to lift the Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team to a 72-60 win over Life (Ga.) on Saturday at The Eagles' Nest.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 8pmCT on Thursday, Jan. 31, as the Blue Raiders host No. 6-ranked and MSC-leading Georgetown (KY) at Biggers Sports Center, 360 Spickard Drive, Columbia, KY.

Adams scored 17 points in the win -- one of four Blue Raiders to post double figures. Kel Stotts scored 13 points while Shakaris Laney and Pierre Lys each chipped in 12 in the upset of the Running Eagles -- who is receiving voting points in the national poll.

Lindsey Wilson (12-10, 3-4 in the Mid-South Conference) and Life exchanged blows in the first 15 minutes to the tune of four ties and 15 lead changes. Lys scored on a driving layup with 5:09 left in the first half to give Lindsey Wilson a 26-25 lead -- a lead the Blue Raiders would never relinquish.

Lys' basket started a 6-0 run that spilled into a 9-3 spurt to close the opening half. Stotts nailed a 3-pointer in the closing seconds of the half to give Lindsey Wilson a 35-28 cushion at the break.

After Life (14-9, 4-3) scored the second half's first four points to cut the deficit to 35-32, Adams single-handily gave the Blue Raiders their first double-digit lead with seven straight points. He hit a pair of baskets in the paint and a 3-pointer to give Lindsey Wilson a 42-32 advantage.

Lindsey Wilson extended its lead to 18 points (59-41) -- it's biggest of the game -- with just over nine minutes remaining. The Running Eagles managed to cut the Blue Raider lead to 11 with 2:43 left but could get no closer.

The Blue Raiders hit all eight of their free throws in the final 1:45 to ice the game. Lys connected on all six of his tries while Laney hit the other two. Lindsey Wilson finished the game making 8-of-9 from the charity stripe in the game.

Lindsey Wilson finished the game shooting 48.2 percent (27-of-56) from the field while holding the Running Eagles to 36.2 percent (21-of-58) -- 10 percentage points below their season average. The Blue Raiders also enjoyed a 37-30 rebounding edge.

Deven Dorsett led the Running Eagles with 17 points.
