Blue Raider Basketball hosts Cumberlands Thursday evening

The Lindsey Wilson men and women's basketball teams host Cumberlands (Ky.) on Thursday evening at Biggers Sports Center, 360 Spickard Drive, Columbia, KY. The Mid-South Conference matchups begin at 6pmCT with the women's game followed by the men's game at 8pmCT.


The No. 21-ranked Lindsey Wilson women (12-6, 3-2 MSC) return to the court after a solid 76-68 victory over Pikeville (Ky.). The Blue Raiders were led by sophomore Reagan Turner who recorded a career-high 32 points while shooting 13-for-19 from the field. J'Nayah Hall and Jynea Harris both tallied double-figure points for the game as Molly Stone led the team in rebounds (10) and steals (3).

Turner's performances this past week garnered national attention as she was named the NAIA Division I National Player of the Week, the first national honor of her career. Turner averaged 30.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, four assists, and two steals over the span. So far this season, Turner has averaged 19.56 points per game while shooting 48.1 percent. Turner leads the MSC in points per game and ranks eighth in all of NAIA Division I.

Lindsey Wilson all-time blocks leader, Gerda Paulauskaite continues her streak in the top-10 in NAIA Division I in total blocks (45) and blocks per game (2.6) which ranks her seventh in both categories.

Cumberlands (12-8, 0-5 MSC) visit Biggers Sports Center after a 75-68 defeat to No. 6 Campbellsville (Ky.) at home on Saturday. The Patriots were led by Hannah Lawson and Shayla Simpson. Lawson scored 13 points while Simpson tallied 13 rebounds and seven assists.

Simpson leads the Patriots in three categories this season, averaging 15.4 points, 2.2 steals and 0.85 blocks per contest.

Thursday's matchup is the 70th meeting between the two programs. The Blue Raiders hold a 36-33 record against the Patriots. Last season, Lindsey Wilson defeated Cumberlands 74-57 in the MSC Tournament Quarterfinals.

The Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team (11-9, 2-3 MSC) returns to action after defeating No. 15 Pikeville 88-78 on Saturday afternoon. The Blue Raiders were led by Shakaris Laney, who posted 19 points, four rebounds and five assists. JR Adams chipped in with 17 points and seven rebounds.

As a team, men's basketball is holding opponents to 67.6 points per game, ranking 10th in the NAIA in scoring defense per game. On an individual effort, JR Adams ranks 11th in the NAIA in total steal with 39.

Cumberlands (15-5, 2-3 MSC) returns to action after a 77-76 home victory against Campbellsville on Saturday afternoon. Malik Colvin-Seldon leads the Patriots shooting 58 percent from the field, 33.3 percent from beyond the arc and 64.9 percent from the charity stripe. Colvin-Seldon is averaging 13.9 points and 5.4 rebounds per game.

As a team, the Patriots are ranked sixth in NAIA in total blocks with 95. Cumberlands is also ranked ninth in the NAIA in blocks per game with 4.7.

Thursday's matchup marks the 74th meeting, with Cumberlands leading the overall series 53-20. The last matchup occurred during the 2018 MSC Tournament quarterfinal, in which LWC defeated the Patriots 53-40.
