Stargel qualifies for state wrestling competition

By Amanda Taylor

On Sunday, January 20, 2019, 13 year old Trayton Stargel, who wrestles for the Taylor County Youth Wrestling Program, took 2nd place at the 2019 KFWC Youth Region 2 Wrestling Tournament in the 130 pound weight division.

Region 2 includes the following counties: Spencer, Nelson, Larue, Hardin, Meade, Taylor, Adair, Boyle, Wayne, McCreary, Anderson, Spencer, Elkhorn, and Bondurant.

Regional Tournaments are the only Kentucky Youth State Qualifiers, which means Trayton has qualified and earned himself the opportunity to compete at the state level at Broadbent Arena in Louisville, KY, on February 3, 2019.

Trayton didn’t have to travel far this weekend to claim his 2nd place medal, due to Taylor County hosting the Regionals tournament this year.
