Six Blue Raiders in double figures as LWC tops Oakwood 104-84

The Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team defeated Oakwood 104-84 on Monday night at Biggers Sports Center. The Blue Raiders bolstered one of their best shooting percentages of the season, connecting on 57.4 percent of their shots as LWC scored over 100 points for the third time this season.

The Blue Raiders return to Mid-South Conference action in their next contest when they welcome Shawnee State (Ohio) to Biggers Sports Center, 360 Spickard Drive, Columbia, KY, in their conference home opener on Thursday, January 17, 2019, at 8pmCT.


The Blue Raiders were efficient from beyond the arc in the game as they made 12-of-23 attempts including 7-of-10 in the second half. Lindsey Wilson held a slight 39-36 advantage on the glass as they managed 11 steals and 23 assists for the contest.

Kel Stotts paced Lindsey Wilson with 20 points. JR Adams, Pierre Lys and Payton Cundiff all finished with 15 points as Matthew Eldridge and Shakaris Laney had 12 points each. Adams added a career-high six steals and eight assists.

Lindsey Wilson was able to jump out to a quick 4-0 lead as they forced two turnovers and one blocked shot on the Ambassadors first three possession of the game. Oakwood managed to take a 7-6 lead with 14:51 to play, marking the final time they would hold a lead over LWC.

The Blue Raiders controlled the next 3:52 of action, outscoring the Ambassadors 12-0 to regain the lead at 18-7. Oakwood kept pressuring Lindsey Wilson as they were able to trim the LWC lead to just five points at 25-20, but the Blue Raiders were able to extend their lead once again, taking a 33-24 lead at the second media timeout of the half.

Lindsey Wilson and Oakwood closed out the first 20 minutes of action trading baskets with LWC slightly outscoring the Ambassadors 12-11 to take a 45-35 lead into halftime.

Eldridge and Adams paced the Blue Raiders in the first half as they both recorded 10 points while Adams added six assists and four of Lindsey Wilson's seven steals.

LWC was able to shoot an impressive 51.5 percent from the field after connecting on 17-of-33 attempts including 5-of-13 from beyond the arc. Lindsey Wilson dominated the paint, outscoring Oakwood 22-12 from the high percentage area as both teams managed to grab 20 boards.

The Ambassadors shot just 36.1 percent from the field but connected on 7-of-15 three point attempts.

Lindsey Wilson and Oakwood continued to exchange baskets to open the second half as the LWC clung to their 10 point lead, to hold a 58-48 lead with just under five minutes gone. The Ambassadors would then cut the Blue Raider lead to six with 13:30 to play, but Lindsey Wilson responded pushing their lead to 11 at 71-60 with just less than 10 minutes on the clock.

The Blue Raiders held a 10 point lead - 80-70 -- with 6:28 to play before they closed out the contest on a 24-14 run to take the game 104-84.

DeSham Hotobah-During scored a game-high 26 points for Oakwood as he recorded a double-double after also grabbing 11 boards.
