Born Learning Academy offers families fun, food and help

By Paula Garrison

Parents who are pregnant or have a child under the age of five are invited to join the Adair County Bornlearning(R) Academy Thursday, January 31, 2019 at 5pmCT at Adair County Primary Center, 158 Col. Casey Drive, Columbia KY. This is a family program so children attend with the parents.

The Bornlearning(R) Academy is a series of four family workshops, one each month, for parents of children not yet enrolled in Kindergarten. At the Academy, we have a family dinner, educational opportunities for parents and children, and fun while we learn how to turn everyday moments into learning opportunities.

Why attend? Because parents are a child's first and most important teacher and we want to form early partnerships with families that help prepare children for school. You will have the opportunity to meet other parents, interact with school staff and will receive valuable information that can help you prepare your child for future school success.

There will also be a FREE family meal from 5-5:30pmCT, gifts, resources for your family, child care and great door prizes for attending! Lessons will be from 5:30-7pm.

How to register to attend? Contact the Family Resource Center at Adair County Primary Center by calling 270-384-9752 or send an email to paula.garrison@adair.kyschools.us.

Sessions 1 & 2 on Thursday, January 31, 2019 offer - Translating early learning research into easy-to-do activities, and Building Relationships - Test your knowledge, Are you Baby Smart? Child Care Checklist.

Sessions 3 & 4 will be held Thursday, February 28, 2019 - Ready to Read! Building your child’s language skills - Learn ways to make reading fun and how to connect with songs & games - Nutrition & Health, Healthcare, Nutrition & Sleep

Sessions 5 & 6 will be held Thursday, March 28, 2019 - How Children Learn, Brain development, Ages & Stages; Routines & Learning on the Go - Morning, After Work & Bedtime
