Nick Roy, Adair County Extension Agent for Agriculture & Natural Resources, one of three local agents, shared the podium at the monthly Chamber of Commerce luncheon. In his presentation, he passed around a small vial of liquid containing two small black bugs - bed bugs, he said, for those who were clueless. These and many other bugs and worms are just part of what he tracks in this area. To have a demonstration, or for other questions for him, you may email nick.roy@uky.edu.

Jelaine Harlow speaks on danger of JUULing at Chamber lunch

JUULing is a growing concern as presented by Jelaine Harlow, Adair County Public Health Educator, to the Columbia Adair County Chamber of Commerce lunch crowd. She encouraged communicating in schools, businesses and homes to let young people know the dangers of this e-cigarette - she said it's vital to know the ingredients before putting one to your lips. Some sell hits off the same JUUL (pronounced jewel) to multiple people, spreading germs every time one is shared. She said as these are marketed heavily to young people and have chemical ingredients, the Health Department is treating this as a growing danger. More information is available from the Adair Health Department, 270-384-2286
