100-year-old KY whiskey fetches over $2,500 a bottle By Austin Ramsey, The Messenger-Inquirer A unique, prized collection of pre-Prohibition fine wines and spirits that was lost in an eccentric California millionaire's mansion almost a century ago has resurfaced, and among the dozens of whiskeys that went to auction in downtown Manhattan this month were several distilled in Owensboro, KY. Roughly 17 bottles of 1910 Green River Straight Whiskey sold for a combined $45,938, part of a total $3 million purchase-value collection that Christie's Auction House in New York sold on Dec. 7.
