ACSO vehicle pursuit ends in arrest

On Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at approximately 10:10pmCT, Adair county Deputy Josh Durbin attempted a traffic stop on a 1997 gray Chevy pickup for traffic violations on Portland Road.

The driver of the Chevy, 49-year-old Marcus Janes of Columbia, failed to stop and fled traveling at a high rate of speed, eventually turning on Milltown Road. After fleeing around 2 miles, Janes lost control of his pickup and wrecked into a fence.

Janes was taken into custody and charged with One Headlight, Reckless Driving, Wanton Endangerment 1st degree Police Officer, Fleeing or evading police 1st Degree (motor Vehicle) and operating a motor vehicle under the influence.

Deputy Durbin was assisted on the scene by the Kentucky state Police and Deputy Padgett.

NOTE: An arrest is not a finding of guilt. An individual placed under arrest is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at some later criminal proceeding.
