Np Beth Partin Receives Doctorate In Nursing This article first appeared in issue 14, and was written by Staff. Columbia nurse practitioner Beth Partin has earned a doctorate in the profession from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. The doctorate was conferred in May, 1997, ceremonies. Dr. Partin, will be practicing at Westlake Primary Care. Formerly, her office was located in the Doctors Building on Westlake Drive. She had been offered a job a teaching job at Case Western, but decided to continue her practice in Columbia. "I look forward to working more closely again with my husband," she said. Dr. Partin is a past president of the Kentucky Coalition of Nurse Practitioners and Nurse Midwives. She has been active in healthcare issues, particularly those affecting the NP profession. To earn her nursing doctor, she had to complete the required courses and defend her doctoral thesis. The focus of her doctoral research had to do with the autonomy and scope of practice of nurse practitioners. Dr. Partin hopes to publish her research in a national journal. She was honored at her graduation by induction into Sigma Theta Tau nursing honor society. She will be at Westlake Primary Care from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Corrine Miller, receptionist, and Nancy Roland, RN, moved to WPC with her.
