Trent Mueller is finalist for Cliff Harris Award By Chris Wells Lindsey Wilson football student-athlete Trent Mueller has been named a finalist for the Cliff Harris Award. The award is presented to the top small college defensive player in the country. Finalists include student-athletes from the NAIA and the NCAA Division II and III. The Nashville, Tennessee, native, concluded his career this season with a program-record 320 career tackles. Mueller earned his second straight Mid-South Conference Defensive Player of the Year award in 2018. He led Lindsey Wilson with 93 tackles this season -- second all-time on the single-season list, trailing only his 119 tackles set in 2017. Mueller helped Lindsey Wilson to a 7-3 record in 2018. He picked up American Football Coaches Association and NAIA Second-Team All-America honors earlier this week, becoming the first Blue Raider to become a two-time all-American. The Cliff Harris Award is presented by the Little Rock Touchdown Club. The winner will be announced on December 24 and will be honored at the Little Rock Touchdown Club's banquet on January 10, 2019. The finalists were whittled down from more than 5,000 defensive players and nearly 500 colleges and universities from the NAIA and NCAA. This story was posted on 2018-12-15 08:56:53
