David Joseph Clark, 91, Green County, KY family

David and Ollye enjoyed all family times in Greensburg for Holidays, Graduations, and vacations. They drove to Greensburg, KY like it was just around the corner for family unity. Charles "Horten" and Leora Davenport was his substitute father and mother. They took them on summer vacations and when they became ill, Dave helped take care of them as if they were his own. Christmas was a big time for David, Ollye and their children spending it in Greensburg, KY. Being on the farm meant a lot to the whole family.

David Joseph Clark, 91 passed away Friday Dec. 7, 2018.

Visitation 2-8pmET Wednesday and Funeral Service 11amET Thursday December 13, 2018 at the Nunnelley Funeral Home, 4327 Taylor Blvd., Louisville, KY with burial to follow in the Davenport Cemetery in Green County.



He was born Oct 27, 1927 to David H and Francis Clark in Louisville, KY.

He was preceded in death by one son Joseph R. Clark. Parents: David H Clark and Francis Williams, Step Father Lewis Williams. Father and Mother In-Law Charles "Horton" and Leora Moran Davenport. Brother and Sister In-Law Paul and Hazel Cross, Brother In-Law William "Billy" Buckner.

David was survived by his lovely wife of 70 years, Ollye Davenport Clark and two daughters Patti Ann Clark and Erica Clark-Coyle, one Grandson Skyler Clark.

He served four years proudly in the United States Marine Corp with two tours in China and Japan. After returning from the war, David and his cousin visited their friends Paul and Hazel Cross in Greensburg, KY. This is where he met his soul mate, which he called his "First Lady" Ollye Davenport and wed April, 1949 and moved to Jefferson County where they began their family of three children.

Since David came from a small family the Davenport's took him as their own son. Giving him family of Brother and Sister In-laws: Paul and Hazel Cross; Carlos and Roberta Davenport; Genevieve and Billy Buckner; Billy and Gayle Holland; Randy and Karen Davenport. Along with a slew of nieces and nephews.

After 70 years of marriage they were still each others one and only soul mate.

The family request contributions be made to the Children's Ministries of Epiphany United Methodist Church, 7032 Southside Dr., Louisville, KY 40214.
