LWC Basketball set to host Simmons College on Monday Night

The Lindsey Wilson men's and women's basketball teams are set to host Simmons College of Kentucky with the women's game at 5pmCT and the men at 7pmCT on Monday at Biggers Sports Center, 360 Spickard Drive, Columbia, KY.


The Blue Raider women (6-3) are coming off a 78-47 victory over Virgin Islands at Biggers Sports Center on Saturday afternoon. Heidi Huffman led Lindsey Wilson scoring a season-high 25 points connecting on 7-of-12 three-point attempts for the game. Reagan Turner was the only other Blue Raider scoring double-digits with 16 points and a season-high seven assists.

Turner leads the team and the Mid-South Conference in scoring per game with an average of 17.8 points per game. Turner also ranks third in the MSC in field goal percentage shooting for 43.9 percent so far this season.

Gerda Paulauskaite continues to rank in the top-10 in the NAIA Division I in total blocks and blocks per game. Paulauskaite ranks sixth in total blocks (23) while also ranking seventh in blocks per game (2.6), which also leads the MSC.

Simmons (0-3) comes to Columbia after a 103-39 road loss against Cumberlands (Ky.) on Tuesday. The Falcons average 31 points per game with Love White leading the charge with an average of 11 points while shooting 43 percent from the field.

Monday's matchup is just the second meeting between the two programs. The Blue Raiders defeated the Falcons 99-29 in the first meeting last season at Biggers Sports Center.

The Blue Raider men (4-4) return to action after a 63-57 victory over Central Penn (Pa.) on Friday night. The Blue Raiders are led by Kel Stotts who notched an 18-point game. Freden Deneus recorded his third double-double of the season with 15 points and 15 rebounds.

LWC is averaging 43.9 rebounds per game ranking them in the top 15 in the NAIA. Pierre Lys is ranked 10th in the NAIA in steals per game with 2.6.

Simmons (0-6) returns to action after a 99-55 road loss to Cumberlands (Ky.) on November 27. Simmons is averaging 57 points per game while shooting 30.4 percent from the field. James Mosley and Michael Howell lead Simmons with eight points per game average.

Monday's matchup marks the second meeting of the programs, with LWC leading the overall series 1-0. The last matchup occurred in 2017, where LWC defeated Simmons 99-75.
