Letter: Thank You to all in Adair who do a tough job

It's cold this morning -- 27 November 2018, as it was yesterday. Combined with a stiff breeze, being outside is somewhat irritating. Last Monday and Tuesday, it rained most of each day. Any way you look at it, any of those days were miserable weather in which to be working outdoors.

There is a group of hard-working people in this county who work year-round, rain or shine, summer and winter, and seldom, if ever, get the recognition they deserve.

They provide a vital service to our area, yet tend to be overlooked or perceived as not worthy of notice.

The group of people I am talking about are the garbage men. They have a rough job, from the lifting of cans and bags for several hours each workday, to the stench in summer months, to the having to endure weather in all its aspects. I have no idea how much they are paid but they definitely earn every penny -- and more!

Let's all give them a big Thank You! for the service they provide. Without them, there would be massive amounts of litter scattered across the landscape.

City Sanitation crew among those getting praise for good service

2018-11-28 - Columbia, KY - Photo from the City.
A letter of praise for this team, Shawn White, at left, Adam Montgomery and Oshaughnessy Frazier, and for all in Adair County who do this job, was received from writer Joyce Coomer at Printing Creations who observed that no matter the season nor the weather, the Columbia City Sanitation Department runs smoothly. She believes a word of thanks is due their good service. (A fourth member of the crew, Robert Montgomery, was not available when the photo was made.)
