LWC Women's basketball rolls over Brescia 91-56

The Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team scored a season-high 91 points in their 91-56 win over Brescia (KY) on Wednesday night at Biggers Sports Center.

The Blue Raiders (4-2) shot a season-high 47.9 percent from the field as they connected on 34-of-71 attempts while limiting the Bearcats (0-5) to shooting just 29.5 percent from the floor.


Lindsey Wilson scored 48 of their points in the paint as they controlled the glass, out rebounding the Bearcats 55-to-34. The Blue Raiders also recorded nine steals during the contest while LWC bench was highly productive scoring 46 total points.

Tyrah Engleman scored a career-high 19 points adding five rebounds as Reagan Turner added 12 points. Jordan McDonald recorded a career-high eight rebounds on the night.

Lindsey Wilson would lead Brescia by just one point at 7-6 early in the first quarter as the Blue Raiders would then extend their lead to 15-8 with just over five minutes left in the quarter. The Blue Raiders would add to their lead over the final five minutes of action in the quarter as they outscored the Bearcats 16-11 to lead 31-19 after the first ten minutes.

The LWC defense would limit Brescia to just six points in the second quarter as they were able to add 21 points of their own to increase their lead to 52-25 at the halfway point.

Lindsey Wilson would record seven steals in the half resulting in 16 points while dominating the paint after recording 30 of their points from the high-percentage area. The Blue Raiders limited Brescia to just six points in the paint as LWC managed to nearly double the Bearcats in rebounds as they controlled the glass 30-to-16.

Tyrah Engleman and Reagan Turner lead the offensive attack in the half as they both managed 10 points. Lindsey Wilson shot an efficient 52.6 percent (20-of-36) from the field.

The Blue Raiders added to their lead in the third quarter when they tacked on 21 more points to take a 73-38 lead. Engleman had a big quarter offensivly scoring nine of the Blue Raiders points as she was a perfect 3-of-3 from the field and the free throw line.

Brescia and Lindsey Wilson would both manage 18 points in the final quarter of play as LWC would take the game by a final score of 91-56.

Hallie Fisher led the Bearcats with 12 points and six rebounds.

Lindsey Wilson is back in action on Saturday when they travel to 627 W Battle St, Talladega, AL, to take on Talladega College at 3pmCT.
