LWC Women's basketball competes in MSC/SSAC Challenge By Benjamin Riegger The Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team competes against No. 21 Bethel (TN) and Martin Methodist (TN) in the Mid-South Conference and Southern States Athletic Conference Challenge on Friday and Saturday November 9th and 10th at Crisp Arena, 150 Wildcat Ln, McKenzie, TN. Friday's 8pmCT matchup against Bethel will mark the 13th meeting, with the Wildcats leading the series 7-5. The last time the programs competed, the Blue Raiders defeated Bethel 61-50. Saturday's 12pmCT matchup against Martin Methodist marks the 10th meeting, with LWC leading the series 7-2. The last time the programs met the Blue Raiders won 75-69 marking the sixth straight victory for LWC. No. 13 Blue Raider women's basketball (2-1) returns to action after a 70-38 victory over Berea College (KY). Reagan Turner led the Blue Raiders on the night with a game-high 18 points, shooting 7-of-12 and adding three steals and assists. The Blue Raiders shot 40.3 percent from the field. LWC is led by Turner, who averages 19.3 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. Turner is shooting 77.8 percent from the Free-throw line and 41.9 percent from the field. Bethel (3-0) returns to action after an 81-62 loss to No.5 Free-Hardeman (TN) on Tuesday evening. The Wildcats are ranked first in NAIA in 3pt field goals made with 42, and are ranked sixth for total scoring offense with 334 points. The Wildcats offensive effort is led by Myah Taylor, who averages 26.5 points and 11.3 rebounds per game. Taylor is shooting 43.8 percent from the field, while connecting on 86 percent of her shots from the free-throw line. Martin Methodist (2-0) returns to action after a loss in an exhibition matchup against Union University (TN) 87-56 on Saturday. The Redhawks are ranked in the top-15 in the NAIA in defensive rebounds per game (31) and free-throw percentage (74.2) percent. Martin Methodist offense is led by Samariah Thomas and Bethany Lamon. Thomas averages 13.5 points and three assist per game while shooting 72.1 percent from the free-throw line.
