Shopping at home first encouraged by local Chamber

Locally owned businesses are the backbone of our economy. On a dollar-for-dollar basis, the local economic impact of independently owned businesses is significantly greater than that of national chains. Three times as much money stays in the local economy when you buy goods and services from home grown businesses.

By Ellen Zornes, Executive Director, Columbia/Adair Chamber of Commerce

Join the Columbia-Adair County Chamber of Commerce as it once again promotes our "SHOP LOCAL" campaign beginning with To the Nines Downtown Market, November 9, 2018 and ending on Wednesday, December 12. Drawings will be held Friday, December 14, immediately before that night's To the Nines experience. This four-week event spotlights the importance of our local businesses and encourages our community to shop at Columbia-Adair County businesses.

The "Shop Local" decal will be displayed in the window of participating Chamber of Commerce businesses. Then just look for the Christmas Bag and enter your name. Shop often to increase your chances of winning!

Participating businesses will be offering shoppers the opportunity to win one of nine $100 cash prizes donated by local businesses.

When we shop, eat and have fun locally we invest in our community by sustaining businesses owned by friends and neighbors who live, work, pay taxes and support Columbia and Adair County. By spending locally more of your money remains at home supporting the local economy, community job creation, infrastructure, libraries, recreation, schools and other amenities and services that make our community a great place to call home. Shopping local also supports our local heritage of unique and one-of-a-kind businesses and services that distinguish our community's character.

Local businesses are the backbone of our economy! On a dollar-for-dollar basis, the local economic impact of independently owned businesses is significantly greater than that of national chains. Three times as much money stays in the local economy when you buy goods and services from locally owned businesses. So let's help our whole community and Shop Local this year!

Local businesses are the backbone of our economy and that is why the Columbia-Adair County Chamber of Commerce puts an emphasis on local trade each holiday season. On a dollar-for-dollar basis, the local economic impact of independently owned businesses is significantly greater than that of national chains. Three times as much money stays in the local economy when you buy goods and services from locally owned businesses.
