LWC football hosts Bethel Saturday in a top-10 matchup

No.10 Lindsey Wilson football hosts a top-10 matchup against No. 5 Bethel (Tenn.) at 1:30pmCT on Saturday, October 27, at Blue Raider Stadium, 928 Russell Road, Columbia, KY, in Mid-South Conference Bluegrass division action.

The Blue Raiders (5-2, 2-1 MSC) dropped a road game against Cumberland (Tenn.) on Saturday afternoon 24-21. Jaylen Boyd ran for a game-high 96 yards and a touchdown. Cameron Wyche posted a team-high five catches for 46 yards and a touchdown. Wyche leads the Blue Raiders in reception with 29 this season.


The Blue Raider offense is ranked second in scoring and total offense per games with 476 yards and 42 points per game average. Cameron Dukes is ranked 2nd in the MSC in total offense per game with 225 yards per game. Dukes has thrown 14 touchdowns while completing 57 percent of his passes for the Blue Raiders.

Bethel (8-0, 4-0) returns to action after a home victory over Cincinnati Christian (Ohio) 70-14. The Wildcats scored on the first play of their opening drive with a 66-yard touchdown pass from Sam Castronova to Davius Prather for the early lead. Bethel out gained the Eagles in the first half by a 426-164 margin. The Bethel defense shut down the Cincinnati Christian offense in the second half only allowing for 79 yards.

The Wildcats are the number one team is the MSC in scoring offense averaging 56.5 points and total yards per game with 528.3 yards. Castronova leads Bethel's offense, throwing for 21 touchdowns while completing 63 percent of his passes. The Wildcats special teams is led by J'Kobi Reddick who averages 27.9 yards per return and has returned one for a touchdown.

Saturday's matchup marks the fifth meeting with Lindsey Wilson leading the overall series 3-1. The last meeting occurred in 2017 with a Blue Raider 35-17 victory.
