By Christopher Coombs

The No. 6-ranked Lindsey Wilson volleyball team extended their win streak to seven games on Friday afternoon with a 3-0 sweep of Life (Ga.) at Biggers Sports Center.

With the win Lindsey Wilson has secured at least a share of the Mid-South Conference regular season title. Based on current conference standings the Blue Raiders can clinch the outright title with a win next week over Georgetown (Ky.) or a Campbellsville (Ky.) loss.

The Blue Raiders record a sweep for the 20th time this season and improve to 25-3 overall and 12-0 in the MSC with a 25-11, 25-17, 25-17 victory over the Running Eagles (9-21, 3-8 MSC). Lindsey Wilson has now won 73 consecutive matches inside Biggers Sports Center. The win is LWC's second against Life this season as the Blue Raiders also swept the Running Eagles on Sept. 14.

Lindsey Wilson outhit Life .241 to .047 in the match. The Blue Raiders racked up 37 kills and committed 16 errors as Life managed 23 kills while committing 19 errors for the match.

Elly Burke recorded a match-high nine kills and nine digs as Autumn Proctor managed 29 assists. Klara Mikelova recorded a season-high seven service aces in the match as Paulina Sobolewska recorded a team-high four blocks.

Lindsey Wilson started the match with a strong first set as both the offense and defense were firing on all cylinders. The Blue Raiders managed to hit .238 in the set recording nine kills while limiting Life to a -.227 hitting percentage and only four kills. Sarah Cruz paced the Lindsey Wilson effort with five kills as Mikelova managed four service aces.

The Running Eagles challenged LWC in the second set by jumping out to an early 9-8 lead but the Blue Raiders would string together nine straight points to regain the lead at 17-9. Lindsey Wilson would go on to win the set 25-17. The Blue Raiders recorded a .269 hitting percentage and 15 kills in the set.

Life again would keep things close in the third set but the Blue Raiders again managed to pull away late in the action. Lindsey Wilson and the Running Eagles were knotted at 15, but LWC managed to close out the set on a 10-2 run to take the match in straight sets.

Lindsey Wilson is back in action at Biggers Sports Center, 360 Spickard Drive, Columbia, KY on Tuesday when they take on Georgetown at 6:30pmCT.
