LWC Cycling finishes 6th at Mtn. Bike Nationals

Missoula, MT - The Lindsey Wilson cycling team turned in a sixth-place finish in the final team omnium standings at the USA Cycling 2018 Collegiate Mountain Bike National Championships on Sunday in Missoula, Montana.

The Blue Raiders totaled 341 total team points across the nine different races. Lindsey Wilson scored the highest in the women's dual slalom race, collecting 83 team points which was the second most by a school in the event, followed closely by the men's dual slalom with 73 points.

The Blue Raiders also scored 56 in the women's downhill, 43 in the men's downhill, 25 in the team relay, 19 points in the women's and 23 in the men's short track cross country as the women added 19 points in cross country event.


In the individual omnium standings, Emily Harris represented the Blue Raiders as she was able to finish the four races with 187 total points to earn a sixth-place overall finish.

Friday began with the cross country races as Tyler Junkins took 57th place out of 65 riders on the men's side as and Emily Harris placed 44th in the women's race out of 48 riders.

In Saturday's dual slalom racing, Lindsey Wilson placed six riders in the top 10, four for the women and two for the men. The results by the women in the event earned them a team-second place finish.

Adrian Sanders was the top LWC rider in the event with a second-place podium finish. Elida Beeman, Sumiko Yuki and Harris finished in seventh, eighth and ninth, respectively. Cassidy Ellis was the only other Blue Raider to compete in the event as she finished in 20th place.

On the men's side, Angelo Loskota recorded the top Blue Raider men's finish after crossing the finish line in fourth place. Dustin Hammond followed with in ninth-place and Anthony Lucchesi took 18th.

During Saturday's short track cross country race, LWC's Harris was in action for the women where she turned in a 32nd place finish. For the men, Junkins completed the race in 42nd place.

Lindsey Wilson had two riders compete in the men's downhill race where Loskota took 15th place and Lucchesi finished just behind in 19th. In the women's downhill event, Harris added her second top-10 finish of the weekend when she managed to cross the finish line in seventh place. Beeman and Sanders finished in 22nd and 23rd, respectively, while Ellis finished in 31st place.

Harris and Junkins closed out the competition in the team relay race where they finished in 15th place.

Fort Lewis (Colo.) took home the Varsity Division I Team Championship with 803 total points. Colorado Mesa was second at 693 points and Marian (Ind.) was third at 662 points.
