She was a passionate fan of the Kentucky Derby and enjoyed a good Derby party with family and friends. Marie Coop Cantrell, age 85 years of Louisville, KY formerly of Columbia, KY, died Friday, October 12, 2018. Funeral mass is 10amET on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at St, Gabriel Catholic Church, 5505 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY, with burial in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation is 2pmET until 7pmET on Monday at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY. She was retired from the Jefferson County Clerks Office, a former volunteer at Baptist East Hospital and a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church. She was a passionate fan of the Kentucky Derby and enjoyed a good Derby party with family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas. She is survived by her children, Tom Cantrell, Mike Cantrell and Cindy Hobbs (Marvin); grandchildren, Megan Cantrell and Adam Cantrell; and sisters, Helen Melton of Charlestown, IN, and locally by Betty Coop of Columbia, KY.
