Downtown Days 2018 Reflections - Quilts from Joyful Hearts

By Linda Waggener

The Joyful Hearts Quilt Guild showing was in one of the few warm spots on the chilly Saturday morning of Downtown Days, October 13, 2018, held in the fellowship hall of the Columbia Baptist Church.

Fifty-three quilts were displayed and judged on Friday. Saturday was a day to show the beautiful art of each unique entry.

There were quilts over a hundred years old all the way to quilts that were finished the day before the showing.

Quilters sharing their creations included: Sharon Bledsoe, Annette Keltner, Shelly Shauffer, Janet Caldwell, Russell County Piece Makers Guild, Alice Hadley, Jackie Cadle, Irene Harmon, Kathy Jones, Cheryl Olson, Debbie Murray, Bessie Willis, Chris Olson, Brenda Napier, Claudette Fletcher, Valerie Barnett, Betty Knifley and Nancy Nogar.

The Guild is dedicated to preservation and education for the art of quilting for adults and youth. For more information about the Guild, contact Kathy Jones, pandkjones@windstream.net.
