LWC Volleyball hosts Cumberlands on Senior Night By Clayton Barefield The No. 6-ranked Lindsey Wilson volleyball team hosts Cumberlands (Ky.) for Senior Night at 6:30pmCT on Thursday, October 11, 2018, at Biggers Sports Center, 360 Spickard Drive, Columbia, KY. Prior to the match, four student-athletes will be honored on senior night, three varsity members and one junior varsity member. Grace Blomstedt, Maddie Bivens, and Nathalya De Souza represent the varsity squad, while Ashley Farmer represents the junior varsity team. This senior class has been credited for a 126-9 overall record, including a 60-0 record at Biggers Sports Center over the last four seasons. They have also won three Mid-South Conference regular-season titles and three conference tournament titles. During their time at Lindsey Wilson, this class has made three NAIA National Tournament appearances that include a pair of Fab Four appearances and winning the 2017 NAIA National Championship. The Blue Raiders (19-3, 8-0 MSC) return to Biggers Sports Center after sweeping Georgetown (Ky.) on the road last Tuesday. Lindsey Wilson ranks third in the NAIA in hitting percentage (.297) while also ranking third in kills per game (13.9). LWC boasts two conference leaders on the team, one attacking player and one defensive player. Sarah Cruz leads the conference in kills with a total of 283 kills on the season. On the defensive side, Grace Blomstedt leads the conference in blocks with 89 so far in 2018. As for the rest of the squad, Klara Mikelova leads the team in service aces with 23. Autumn Proctor continues to lead the team in assists with 564 assists. Lilo Larzelere leads the team in digs with 268 on the season. Cumberlands (15-7, 5-3 MSC) visits Biggers Sports Center after defeating Cumberland (Tenn.) 3-1 on Tuesday night. The Patriots recorded 41 kills with a .168 hitting percentage against the Phoenix. Megan Jackson lead the team with nine kills in the match as Lynsey Short led the team with 32 assists. Jackson has the third best hitting percentage in the conference (.283). Short ranks third in assists with 746 assists on the season. The Patriots offense also includes Lily Chapman who is second in the MSC in service aces with 39 in 80 sets. Chapman also leads the team in with a total of 202 kills. Thursday's matchup is the 39th meeting between the two programs. The Blue Raiders hold a 27-11 record over the Patriots and are 13-3 at Biggers Sports Center.
