2024 Holocaust Education Teachers' Workshop Apr 20 Teachers across the Commonwealth have the opportunity to enhance K-12 Holocaust education through a University of Kentucky-led training initiative. An in-person workshop, "Teaching the Holocaust in the ELA Classroom", will be held from 8:30amCT to 4:30pmCT on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Lindsey Wilson College. Educators can find out more and register for this workshop at https://holocausteducation.uky.edu/. Workshops are interactive and include ten total hours of content through both live workshop sessions (at least six hours) and asynchronous activities (no more than four hours). Adair Smart Recovery meetings now on Thursdays The Adair County Smart Recovery meetings, which were previously held on Wednesdays, have been moved to Thursdays at 8amCT at the Adair County Health Department, 801 Westlake Drive, Columbia, KY. Enter through the basement entrance. SMART stands for Self-Management and Recovery Training. The program is a life-changing method of moving from addictive substances and negative behaviors to a life of positive self-regard and willingness to change. The program was created as a way for people to overcome addictive problems through self-empowerment. Many people feel powerless and trapped within an addictive pattern. SMART helps them learn the skills they need to overcome their addictions. The Russell County program continues to meet each Friday at NoonCT at the Russell County Health Department, 211 Fruit of the Loom Drive, Jamestown, KY. Kirksey and Kean named Students of the Week for Mar 29 From Anthony Darnell, Asst. Principal Adair County High School Adair County High School would like to recognize Mr. Gabriel Kirksey and Ms. Katie Kean for being named "Freshmen Students of the Week" for March 29, 2024. Gabriel and Katie, along with several other freshmen students, were nominated by Freshmen ARROW Academy teachers for this honor. Gabriel and Katie were chosen, after a vote, for their kindness, character, and ability to excel in the school and classroom. Congratulations to both students! Each week, Adair County High School ARROW Academy Teachers will nominate and select one male and one female student from the freshmen student body to receive this recognition. The students will be awarded a certificate for their achievement, one free drink of their choice from Indian Grounds Coffee, and their photo will run all week on the video announcement boards within the school.
