Brandy Atkins, 48, Russell County, KY (1975-2024) Brandy Lynne "Bernie" Atkins, of Russell Springs, passed from this life Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at 48 years of age. Along with being a registered nurse, Brandy had earned other titles, such as "Chaos Coordinator" at the Old Homeplace and as the "free therapist", always being willing to give advice, bend her ear or lend a shoulder to a friend or coworker in need. She was fondly known as 'Momma Brandy" to her biological children and to many children she "adopted" along the way. Brandy loved being around the water in the summer and taking big adventures with the kids. She was a shopaholic and loved her Mountain Dews and breakfast burritos (with salsa!). Brandy was born Wednesday, September 24, 1975, in Somerset, daughter of Randall and Lynne Hines Polston. She is survived by her daughters, Samantha Davidson (and Jacob Jasper), and Ashley Burton (and Jared Veatch), both of Russell Springs; her mother, Lynne Polston, of Eli; her long-time companion and the love of her life, Thomas Burton, of Russell Springs; her sister, Wendy Polston (and Robert Hall), of Russell Springs; her grandchildren, Luna, Gunner, Jackson, and Kiedis; her nieces, Natasha (and Slade) Baughman and Angelina Hall; her nephew, Nicholas (and Samantha) Lawless; her friends, co-workers and many "adopted" kids; and her dachshund, "Clark". Brandy is preceded in death by her father, Randall Polston; and her special dog, "Joe". Funeral services are 4pmCT Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Bernard Funeral Home, with Bro. Dustin McGowan officiating. Visitation will be held after 1 Saturday, until time of funeral services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to help offset funeral expenses.
