Archery: LWC records 11 podium finishes on Day 1 of Regionals Williamsburg, KY - The Lindsey Wilson archery team opened the USA Outdoor Archery Regionals with 11 podium finishes on Thursday at the UC All-Purpose Field. The team rounds and mixed team rounds from today will also be used as the Mid-South Conference results for the MSC Outdoor Championship. The Blue Raiders sit in second with 87 points and trail Cumberlands (KY) who is first with 114 points. Individual qualifying rounds also took place on Thursday as six Blue Raider qualified in the top five in their division. T Sanchez qualified first in men's recurve while Sophia Hunziger qualified first in women's fixed pins. Anastacia Godman and Morgan Wilson finished second and fourth in women's barebow. Gus Burtts qualified second in men's fixed pins while Christian Blair was fifth in men's recurve. Lindsey Wilson's lone gold medal of the day came in mixed team fixed pins. Gus Burtts and Hunziger teamed up and defeated Pikeville 146-144. In the finals, the duo defeated Cumberlands 149-146. In the team rounds, Sanchez, AJ Shagool and Zach Jackson earned silver in men's recurve. The trio defeated Kentucky Christian 4-2 in the semifinals and fell 5-4 in the finals to Cumberlands (Ky.). Parker Braddock, Bronson Ormes and Seth Pipes earned a silver medal in compound team. They defeated Pikeville 226-224 in the semifinals and lost to Cumberlands 227-213 in the finals. Godman, Wilson and Sarah McCarthy finished runner-up in women's barebow. The trio defeated Campbellsville 6-0 in the semifinals and fell in the finals 5-1 to Pikeville. Gus Burtts, Lyle Uhrich and Wyatt Burtts finished second in men's fixed pins team. In the semifinals, the trio defeated Kentucky Christian 227-213 before falling in the finals to Cumberlands 225-220. Hunziger, Madalynn Puryear and MaKenna Langley earned silver in women's fixed pins team. The trio defeated Pikeville 213-201 in the semifinals and fell to Cumberlands in the finals. Layla Blevins, Carlee Drury and Micah Bettersworth finished third in women's recurve team. In the semifinals, they lost to Pikeville 6-0. Anna Krampe, Alea Boyd and Emma Kist finished third in women's compound team. They fell to Union in the semifinals and defeated Pikeville. Also in the mixed team rounds, Sanchez and Blevins finished runner-up in mixed recurve. They advanced to the finals with a 6-0 victory over Pikeville. The duo then fell to Cumberlands 6-0 in the final. Braddock and Krampe earned bronze in mixed compound. In the quarterfinals they defeated Midway 152-78 before falling to Union 155-151 in the semifinals. The duo defeated Pikeville 151-145 to finish third. Jacob Cook and Godman finished third in mixed barebow. The duo defeated Kentucky Christian 6-2 in the quarterfinals before falling to Cumberlands 6-0 in the finals.
