Track and Field: LWC concludes meet at Centre College

Danville, KY - Lindsey Wilson track and field finished in Danville, KY, at the Centre Twilight on Friday with the men taking third on the podium and the women's team finishing sixth overall.

Despite only one side finishing in the top three as a team, the Blue Raiders were still able to dominate in quite a few individual events that led to many first place finishes along with A and B standard performances as well.

Senior runner Meredith Johnson brought home the gold in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a remarkable NAIA "A" standard time of 11 minutes and 17 seconds. Alysssa Sharp followed up in third with a time of 12:16.

After three consecutive victories in the javelin toss coming into Friday's meet, Nikki Ravelli placed second in the long jump after leaping a "B" standard jump of 5.65 meters. Luna Senica finished just outside the top three as her 5.46 meter jump put her at fourth overall. Malorie Carter also added to the LWC total in the hammer throw after placing third with a toss of 43.37 meters, respectively.

On the men's side, Austin Campbell picked up another second place finish in the shot put after throwing the shot just over 15 meters. Campbell also found himself on the podium for the hammer throw in third as Brandon Fields followed up in fifth place, respectively.

Mark Edmond, Justin Borden, and Jelle Golbach all contributed to Lindsey Wilson's team total after clearing 1.95 meters in the high jump which placed them just outside the top spot. Borden also finished second in the long jump with a leap of 7.06 meters as Robert Dyer placed fifth after jumping 6.57 meters, respectively.

Both Blue Raider men and women finished in the top two spots in their respective relay events as the men placed first in the 4x800 and the women took silver in the 4x100 relay.

Lindsey Wilson is back on the track next weekend in Richmond, Kentucky where they will compete in the EKU Rick Erdmann Twilight starting on Friday, April 21st.
